Publication Ethics
Gema Campus Journal is one of the journals managed by IISIP YAPIS Biak. Gema Campus is a scientific journal that is published online and publishes articles or scientific works resulting from research in the fields of administration, social sciences, and political science.
This scientific publication ethics statement represents the code of ethics for all parties involved in the journal's publication process, namely the management, editors, reviewers, and authors. The Scientific Publication Ethics Code fundamentally upholds three ethical values in publication: (i) Neutrality, which means being free from conflicts of interest in managing publications; (ii) Fairness, which entails granting authorship rights to those entitled to be recognized as authors; and (iii) Honesty, which means being free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in publications.
Editor Ethics:
Publication Decisions; editors must ensure a thorough, transparent, objective, fair, and prudent manuscript review process. This serves as the basis for the editor's decision to accept or reject a manuscript. In this case, the editorial board acts as the manuscript selection team.
- Publication Information; editors must ensure that the writing guidelines for authors and other interested parties are accessible and clearly readable, in both print and electronic versions.
- Distribution of Peer-Review Manuscripts; editors must ensure that reviewers and the manuscript materials for review are properly assigned, and clearly inform the reviewers of the terms and review process.
- Objectivity and Neutrality; editors must remain objective, neutral, and honest in editing manuscripts, without discrimination based on gender, business interests, ethnicity, religion, race, inter-group relations, or the nationality of the authors.
- Confidentiality; editors must safeguard all information, especially concerning the privacy of authors and their manuscript distribution.
- Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest; editors must understand the above scientific publication ethics to avoid conflicts of interest with others, ensuring a smooth and safe manuscript publication process.
Author Ethics:
- Reporting; authors must provide honest, clear, and comprehensive information about their research processes and results to the editorial team, while ensuring that their research data is kept safe and secure.
- Originality and Plagiarism; authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript is original, written by themselves, derived from their own ideas and concepts, and not a copy of someone else's work or ideas. Authors are strictly prohibited from misattributing cited sources to others.
- Redundant Submission; authors must inform the editorial team that the submitted manuscript has not been submitted to any other journal or publication. If there is any redundancy in submitting the manuscript to other publishers, the editorial team will reject the author's submission.
- Author Status; authors must inform the editorial team that they possess the competence or qualifications in a specific area of expertise relevant to the subject matter of the publication, namely librarianship. The authors submitting the manuscript to the editorial team should be either the first author or the corresponding author so that any issues in the publication process can be promptly addressed.
- Manuscript Errors; authors must immediately inform the editorial team if any errors are found in the manuscript, whether from the review or editing process. These errors may include misspellings of names, affiliations, citations, and other writings that may diminish the meaning and substance of the manuscript. If such errors occur, the authors must promptly propose corrections to the manuscript.
- Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest; authors must understand the above scientific publication ethics to avoid conflicts of interest with others, ensuring that the manuscript can be processed smoothly and safely.
Reviewer Ethics:
- Objectivity and Neutrality; reviewers must be honest, objective, impartial, independent, and only support scientific truth. The manuscript review process must be conducted professionally without discrimination based on gender, business interests, ethnicity, religion, race, inter-group relations, or the nationality of the authors.
- Clarity of Reference Sources; reviewers must ensure that the references/citations in the manuscript are appropriate and credible (accountable). If any errors or deviations in the writing of reference sources/citations are found, reviewers must promptly inform the editorial team for corrections by the authors according to the reviewers' notes.
- Effectiveness of Peer Review; reviewers must respond to the manuscripts sent by the editorial team and work according to the established manuscript review timeline (maximum of 4 weeks). If additional time is needed for the manuscript review, they must promptly report (confirm) to the editorial secretariat.
- Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest; reviewers must understand the above scientific publication ethics to avoid conflicts of interest with others, ensuring a smooth and safe manuscript publication process.
Journal Management Ethics:
- Decision Making; the editorial board must articulate the organization's mission and objectives, especially concerning policy establishment and journal publication decisions without any specific interests.
- Freedom; journal managers must provide freedom to reviewers and editors to create a comfortable working environment while respecting authors' privacy.
- Assurance and Promotion; journal managers must guarantee and protect intellectual property rights (copyright) and be transparent in managing funds received from third parties. Additionally, journal managers must publish and promote published results to the public, ensuring the usefulness of utilizing the manuscripts.
- Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest; journal managers must understand the above scientific publication ethics to avoid conflicts of interest with others, ensuring a smooth and safe manuscript publication process.
